Welcome to

The Twenty-Eighth Annual

Mid-Atlantic Regional Horse Show

and Benefit for Oak Crest Therapeutic Riding Program (OCTRP)

Hello!  As always a few things to catch up on…

Friday Set Up, Etc.
There will be no set up/clinic/etc. on Friday night

Hall Hours
Please note:  The show hall opens at 7:30 am each morning, and the show starts at 8:45 am on Saturday, and 8:30 am on Sunday.

Auction
We will have a live auction on Saturday morning starting at 8:15 am.  The show will start at the conclusion of the auction, but no earlier than 8:45 am.  Models that don’t sell/or are “no-saled” will be added to those models and other items donated, and offered at silent auction through Sunday, with staggered ending times starting at 4:00 pm.  Check out the auction website – Auctions !  Photos, descriptions and bids are being added daily, so visit frequently!

Also – please let Betsy now by Wednesday at 8 pm what YOU would like to see in the Live Auction on Saturday morning.  She’d rather put through those models you are most interested in.

Breed Classes
Betsy is receiving at least five emails a day about what breed class a model should go in.  The answer to many of these questions can be found in the show brochure.  Some breeds are NOT listed under Breed Definitions.   For these,  place the model according to type (i.e., does it look like a stock horse?  Or a warmblood?  Or ???!?.  There is a bit of flexibility here.

Class Limits
Two models per entrant/per class unless otherwise noted.  This includes NOVICE/YOUTH/4H showers.

Outer Limits
Many of you have already put in your requests for Outer Limit tickets.  (Please see the show brochure for more information on this).  As it would be great to have these done before the show, if you get your request (with complete information) to Betsy by Wednesday 8 pm, they will cost $1.50 a piece (payment must accompany your list – paypal at Betsy_Andrews@hotmail.com).  Otherwise, they are $2 on show day.  Only a limited supply of extra tickets will be made up, so please get your requests in early.  Remember to pick up your outer limit tickets first thing in the morning.

The bell(s) may toll…
We may be using the bell again to note change in classes.  With all the conversation going on in the hall during the show not everyone hears all the class change announcements, so last year, we used a bell to note class changes.

Silent Zone
We’ve had a lot of comments from judges that they are easily distracted by people hovering around the ring, talking while they’re trying to judge.  As a result, we’re going to institute a “silent” zone around the tables.  No shower may go into this zone while judging is going on (unless a judge asks you to move a model, etc.).  Ok, the rings are close, and you may have to be “between” the rings to set up for a class on the next table.  We understand that.  But please – stay quiet, and try to stay out of the judge’s way.

Descriptions
I know many of you take a lot of time to research some of your entries, providing a full page of detail concerning your entry (whether it is information on a rare breed, or a historical costume, etc.).  This information is often helpful to the judge and other entrants, and we all learn new things from your research.  In the interest of time (and space), we are asking you to provide a BRIEF summary of the information on a card no bigger than 4” x 6”, with a reasonable size print (12 point or larger), which highlights the information the judge really needs.  Please – no books on the table, unless they measure 4” x 6” or less.  You know how crowded the tables can get…

Raffle
We’ve had some nice donations to the raffle!  Some models, model magazines, “horsy” stuff, etc.  If you’d like to donate something on show day, please see Pam.

Those Stone SR/LRs of 100…
A lot of questions have come up concerning the many Stone runs of 100 that are split into 50/50 matte/gloss, or 25/25/25/25 matte mares/matte stallions/gloss mares/gloss stallions or whatever.  We’ve polled our judges, and those who responded unanimously agreed that those are basically runs of 100, so do NOT go in the Limited Production Plastic Division.  This is what we did in 2006 and 2007.

Unrealistic Limited Editions
Some folks have asked where to put their odd colored/unrealistic Limited Editions.  You may put these models in the Collectors Division instead of the LE division.

Fun Classes
Fun classes will be offered at lunch on Saturday and Sunday.  Each entry will be charged $1 – funds will be split 50-50 with the winner and OCTRP.  No limit of models per entrant per class.

Please note:  a model may enter only ONE fun class, as they will all be going on at the same time.  Also, please identify your entries properly.  If it’s NAN qualifying, you need the card/tag.

Name Tags
We ask that you wear name tags this year.  We will provide them.  It’s just so helpful!  We have many new folks this year, and it’s helpful to have a name tag on so they know who you are.  So please stop in first thing to get your name tag, outer limits tickets (if you purchased them), one raffle ticket, etc.

Proxy Showers
For those of you who have signed up to proxy show, WE MUST have the names of the models you will be showing.  Just neatly print them on an 8 ½ x 11 piece of paper and turn them into Pam or Betsy before the start of the show.

Rule Clarifications

No long lining/bareback in ANY “Other” Performance – including Novice/Youth.
In any “OTHER” class, you MUST state what the “Other” is, or risk that model not placing.
In breed classes, please state the breed.  Your model may do better if you give an idea of the cross (i.e., Shire/Percheron), rather than just saying “grade” or “mixed.”  However, “grade” is acceptable.

Special Runs
There will be a small SR from Animal Artistry – it’s the mini TB in buckskin!  “Margin Trading” is quite a handsome guy, and I will have some available for sale show weekend.  See the flier on the website for more information.

Special Run Distribution
For those who have pre-ordered a TB, please see Betsy or Pam after the show gets rolling in the morning.

Stone Models
Stone Horses will be represented by Kristin Breen.   Stone will also donate something for the auction, too.

Tags
Just a reminder – each model needs a tag attached to it, as well as the card while in the show ring.  Please read the section on the website about tags/cards.

Special Performance Awards
If you would like to go for one (or more) of these, please read the rules carefully.  Please note:  One model may go for multiple awards.  You may also have multiple models go for the same award.  However, for each award, you may use only one model.  Confused?  If you want your model to participate in the Ride/Drive and Combined Training Award, that’s great!  But you can’t use two separate models to qualify for the Ride/Drive Award.  If you have questions, email Betsy at Betsy_Andrews@hotmail.com.

Other Stuff
The hall will close 30 minutes after the naming of the Grandest of the Grand on Saturday, and 45 minutes after the naming of the Grandest of the Grand on Sunday, so please try to pack as the day progresses.  The clean up crew needs a couple hours to fold up and put away tables and chairs, clean the bathroom, mop the floor, etc.  They’d like to get their tasks completed at a reasonable hour.

Note:  We were sold out on Saturday and Sunday.  However there have been a half-dozen+ cancellations.  And please remember:  Once your entry is processed, there are no refunds.  ( In my 30 plus years of model showing, and 100+ live shows I’ve entered, I have never asked for a refund if I have been unable to make a show.)   However, if we can fill spaces, I will try to do some partial refunds.  But that is only if we can fill the spaces.

Some of the last folks who registered for both days may have to shift tables from Saturday to Sunday.  However, if you know you’d LIKE to be in the side room, please let Betsy know by return email.  We’ve tried to accommodate everyone’s placement requests, but some we just could not.  Apologies in advance.  Also – it will be EXTREMELY important that you store your models/etc. UNDER your table – do not spill into the aisles.

Judges
Thanks to everyone who offered to help!  However, if you might still be willing to help, please let Betsy know.  Sometimes judges are not able to attend…(or have a slew of assignments!). To see updated judge list go here

Eleanor Harvey

Extraneous Questions that have been asked…

Side Saddle – can go in Dressage, Pleasure, trail, etc.
Gypsy Cob - I would think carriage.
Spanish-Norman – put in whatever you think he looks most like - Sport, Spanish, Draft, etc.
If a resin is larger than LB scale (such as the Tango), it should show with the Trads/Classics.
.
We bet that something has been left out, or something will change before the weekend…  Oh well, we’ll all just have to be flexible!

We look forward to seeing you soon -

P.S.  Weather looks good for the weekend – 44 – 56 degrees, with some rain.
