Proxy and General Bidding Rules
Please note that by placing a proxy bid on an item in the
28th Annual Mid-Atlantic Regional Horse Show, you agree to abide by
the following terms and conditions.
What is a proxy
bid?
A proxy bid is a bid you place on an auction item when
you will not be at the show to bid in person.
Who may proxy bid?
You must be at least eighteen (18) years old to place a
bid. You do NOT have to be an
entrant, vendor, judge, or official show staff to bid.
Proxy bids will be accepted on any piece which indicates that proxy
bids are being accepted on the show’s auction web site. Items are added as pieces are received, so if a piece you are
interested in does not indicate proxy bids are being accepted, please check
back often to see if this has been changed.
The show holder reserves the right to refuse bids from people with whom
she has had bad dealings in the past.
How may I make a
proxy bid?
Proxy bids will be accepted via e-mail until 12:00 noon
Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Friday, March 14, 2008.
To place a proxy bid, you must send an e-mail to the show holder, Betsy
Andrews, at Betsy_Andrews@hotmail.com,
with the subject line “MAR Auction Bid.”
The e-mail must contain the following information:
- The
lot letter;
- The
lot title (example: “OF PS
Blue Peaches” or “Chaney Mini Welsh Painted by Beth Hoffert”);
- Your
full name;
- Your
mailing address;
- Your
e-mail address;
- Your
phone number; and
- The
highest whole dollar amount you are willing to pay for the item.
Bids will NOT be accepted if any of this information is
missing.
How are bids
processed?
All bidding begins at $1.00. Some models do have reserves.
As others bid against you, your bid will be increased in one dollar
($1.00) increments up to but not exceeding your maximum bid.
For example, if you are willing to pay a maximum of $100.00 for an
item, and the highest other bid is $75.00, you will win the item for $76.00.
I will try to confirm receipt of all bids made by e-mail,
and notify bidders if they have been outbid.
NOTE: If you have an AOL
account, please make sure that a hotmail account may reply to it.
I cannot guarantee that I will have time to actively track bidding,
especially during the final hours of the online bidding period.
Please also note that I cannot be held responsible for
bids not received in a timely manner due to power failure, internet
congestion, or other uncontrollable circumstances.
No late bids will be accepted under any circumstances.
The actual auctions will take place either on Saturday,
March 15, or Sunday, March 16, 2008, during the show. Each item will be sold to the highest bidder, to be
determined from both online and in-person bids.
In case of a tie between online bids, the item will go to the earlier
bidder. In case of a tie between
an online bid and an in-person bid, the item will go to the in-person bid.
Buy It Now
Some items are offered with the “Buy It Now” option.
If a proxy bidder would like to use this option they may, and must send
a check/money order immediately upon confirmation of their bid by the show
manager, or use Paypal.
What if I am the
winning bidder?
If you have placed a proxy bid and are the winning bidder
on an item, you will be notified via e-mail by Wednesday, March 19, 2008 of
the item(s) you have won and the total amount due.
Please note that USPS Priority Mail shipping and insurance costs need
to be added to the bid price for all items sold to online bidders.
I am willing to ship internationally – when you place your bid you
MUST let me know that it will be an international shipment.
Payment for online bids may be in the form of a personal check,
cashier’s check, or money order sent to Betsy Andrews – MAR Proxy Bid,
1622 Chesapeake Dr. – Woodland Beach, Edgewater, MD 21037.
Or, they may be made by Paypal. Paypal
payments may be made to: Betsy_Andrews@hotmail.com,
but, as this is a benefit auction, the buyer must pay a 4% additional charge
to cover all Paypal costs. (So if
the model cost $100 with shipping/insurance, and you would like to pay via
Paypal, you will actually owe $104.) Payment
must arrive by March 26, 2008 or the item will be offered to the second
highest bidder or re-sold (choice of show coordinator).
No exceptions made under any circumstances, and no time payments.
Items paid for by check will be held up to three weeks from receipt of
payment before being shipped. If
paid for by money order, cashier’s check, or Paypal, the item will be
shipped as soon as possible after receipt of payment.
Don’t forget to add postage/insurance!
Bidding in person, both at the live and silent auction,
will also be accepted. A live
auction will be held on Saturday morning, and silent auctions will be held
throughout the weekend, with bidding closing at about 4 pm Sunday afternoon.
Please bid in whole dollar amounts.
These terms are subject to change. Please note that the various auctions for certain pieces may
be subject to different terms. Please
also note that the show coordinator reserves the right to withdraw any piece
from proxy bidding, even after bids are placed, and offer the item either on
eBay or on the day of show live and silent auctions, or in any other form
which will best benefit the show.
