Hazel Resin!

I’m so excited. Lisa Bickford had a Grail of mine on MH$P and she was nice enought to let me do  quick short term time payments on her.  I love the Hazel resin. I had purchased one painted last year. But do to financial issues, had to let her go. Now I have an unpainted one with tons of ideas for her paint job. I can’t wait to get her. I love the personality this resin has.

Picture is taken by Lisa Bickford.

CM Para Dressage

She’s almost done. I just have to add the eyes and tweak the shell colored hoof and this little Stablemate will be ready for a new home. Or stay with me.

I used the Kolinky Liner brush to get the small hair details of the roan. This was one of the first projects using this method. Its time consuming. But in the end you get incredible details.

Resin Buying Spree

I don’t know what has gotten into me. But I have been on a resin shopping spree lately. Lots and lots of mini resins are on there way to me. I’m not entirely sure how many of them I will paint. I seem to like having a bunch of nekkid resins around.

Most pictures here are not mine. Borrowing examples until I receive the actual models.

QH Congress Donation Piece

Just started adding color to this one last night. I hope to have this one a nice dark bay with a bit of white done in the next couple of days. This piece is a donation to the QH Congress Live Show in OH.

Some new Projects

[SinglePic not found]

I belong to a wonderful group started by Jaime Baker. The amount of help you can get from this mailing list is wonderful. It can also cause ATD, yes, ATD (Attention To Detail). Recently Jaime created this beautiful Weather Girl Custom that was a Black Rabicono that just had outstanding hair detail. She was kind enough to share her secret and even created a quick youtube video to show us how to do it.

First, it means going out and buying a Kolinksy Escada Liner 2 brush. Then from there its a series of taps to get the hair detail. Ok, a little more involved than that. But you will have to join Jaime’s group to get more details. Anyway, this has started a chain reaction of models I’ve been working on using nothing but taps to create hair details.

Here are 2 of the many projects I’m currently working on.

Right now I”m trying to figure out how to blend the white markings on the belly. Not ot many belly shots out there. I don’t really know how to end the roaning on the legs of the drafter and I’m having a time time ending the blank on the appy. Ending I mean where it doesn’t look like a line between the pattern and body color. I also know some of the roaning marks are a little to big. But I think I”m mostly stuck with them for now.

I can’t wait to complete them and see how they turn out. Which makes it hard to take your time.

Johann Resin

Johann Resin

Not sure why this guy isn’t more popular. He’s a really cute resin. I kept him simple so he could be a mix of breeds or possibly a purebred. I airbrushed him to be a very dark bay with a big white blaze down his face. I was seeing him as a Shire/Morgan Mix and most of the reference photo’s I pulled up of this mix were dark bays.  I really like this guy!

Smarty Jones CM

I have been working on this guy off and on for quite some time. I do alot of Bays. Mainly because Bays are my favorite color. But I also tend to see Bays better than any other color. On this guy I really pushed myself on details. I wanted to work on eyes, hooves and markings more than I usually do. After about a year of working on this guy, he’s finally done.  I hope he does well in the show ring and that others will like him as much as I do!

Mini Ravenhill

Finally got a hold of a Mini Ravenhill. I’ve been itching to paint one of these. I was originally going to do him in a nice red bay with chrome. But after posting to a horse forum about color ideas, I decided that a super nice looking Tovero would work well on him.

This is my reference horse:

So I’ve gone in and blocked out his black areas using Pan Pastel Black. This is just one layer of black. I need to make his markings a bit larger so I can sharpen the edges and add mapping using acrylic paint.

My progress so far:

Not much in the way of progress. Its just the first layer. Hoping to get to it tonight and darken the black and start adding some shape to the patterns. Hoping anyway.

This and That

Lots of changes have happened over the last few months. I was finally able to get my own place. Its a large 1 bedroom apartment. With this move came alot of changes though. I no longer have my work bench and storage area for painting anymore.  But I have now since been working on getting organized. I just have to figure out how to get primer up off the floor.

I’ve been playing with ceramics the last couple of weeks too. Whats nice with the ceramics is it doesn’t demand so much detail and accuracy. Its been alot of fun and has helped a great deal in sparking some creativity. If your interested in ceramics I have created a website www.broomeclosetceramics.com  My boyfriends mom does the ceramics (convenient isn’t it).  I’ll have to upload some pics of what I’ve been working on :)

I’ve also been painting a few custom pieces as well. I have 4 Safari horses that are coming along nice. 2 Gypsy Vanners. Love this mold. Along with the Appy Mare mold and Morgan Mold. Both of which will be pintos of some sort. I’m still working on the Newsworthy model which is a blanket appy. First time I’ve done an appy. Its ALOT of work.

Again, will post pics when I can upload some.
